The Old Spanish Trail
The project is situated on the Old Spanish National Historic Trail, a historical trade route that connected New Mexico, Nevada, California and Arizona. The trail was declared a National Historic trail in 2002 by then President George W. Bush.
The Trail's history and natural beauty is maintained by a joint effort of Inyo County, the National Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the Old Spanish Trail Association (OSTA) - which has several trail markers and information kiosks located throughout the trail.
